Desert Downpour

This image was captured in Monument Valley near Kayenta Arizona. I had arrived in the area with plans to shoot the sunrise in the valley. I was scouting areas out the evening before my planned shoot when a storm swept through the area.

The amazing cloud formations were inspiring and I shot many frames of them. Suddenly the rainbow appeared and I shot even more images. This one was my favorite from the group.

The intense colour in the sand and sandstone cliffs is caused by the sun being low in the sky. It was truly a site to behold.
