Wall Street Narrows

The Virgin river twists and turns its way through Zion National Park in Utah. The canyon is the deepest slot canyon in the world with walls that tower over 1000 feet high on each side of the river. The width of the canyon varies from as narrow as 30 feet to maybe 60 to 70 feet at wider sections. To visit this magical location, one must hike in the water about three miles up river from the end of the river walk trail. The water ranges from mid calf to mid thigh deep.

The photograph was taken with my tripod low down in the water. A 12mm wide angle lens was used to enhance the height of the walls and enlarge the foreground rocks. A wonderful glow on the far wall of the canyon was courtesy of some clouds clearing out of the overcast sky in just the right manner to flood one wall of the canyon with warm light. We live in a world with some amazing places!
