Zion Narrows II The Virgin river twists and turns its way through Zion National Park in Utah. The canyon is the deepest slot canyon in the world with walls that tower over 1000 feet high on each side of the river. The width of the canyon varies from as narrow as 30 feet to maybe 60 to 70 feet at wider sections. To visit this magical location, one must hike in the water several miles up river from the end of the river walk trail. The water ranges from mid calf to mid thigh deep. This image was shot while approaching a turn in the canyon. The sun was peeking through clouds and illuminating the far wall which provides amazing contrast to the darker walls around me. There are some small rapids that are passing through the foreground that add an interesting leading line into the photograph.
